Review Epiphone Wildkat

As soon as I saw this guitar I knew I was in love. I initially saw it on an internet guitar site and I knew I wanted to have one. First I had to try one. But could I find one no!

I have always loved the Epiphone Casino as I am massive Beatles fan. I have always loved the Gibson Les Paul too as I am massive Ace Frehley fan. This Wildkat was a bastard crossing of those two Guitars. A hollow bodied single cut guitar equipped with P90’s and a Bigsby. Absolute quality!!!!

I read the reviews of the Guitar in Guitar Buyer Magazine and Guitarist magazine and they still had my mouth watering but I could not find one to try in the Northwest where I live.

However- a day trip to the sea-side saw me and my family driving past a guitar shop on the way in. So, on the way out I “just called” to have a look round. There on the wall an Epiphone Wildcat in a Turquoise colour- hideous colour not my cup-of-tea but not the less a Wildkat.

I bought some strings and picks (just to show I was a serious buyer) and asked to try the guitar. I managed to get it plugged into a Fender twin (WOW) and sat down to play- The guy in the shop actually left me to it so I had a good go!!

The guitar is *%$&~#*&$ cool. It looks so rock and roll it is unbelievable. This model was set up well and in tune from picking off the guitar wall. The Bigsby had very good travel and did it’s job- Master volume ( a dream come true ) Master tone and two individual volumes.

Clean it was as you expect from P90’s choppy bridge bright and a nice fat tone from the neck.. A bit of volume and this guitar starts to come into it’s own. Just breaking up- so bluesy- ace for rock and roll riffs- Choppy rhythms and rock and roll lead. A few Beatles riffs- Day Tripper and I feel fine PERFECT. Bad Moon Rising CCR ace!! Strutter and Dr Love by Kiss when I put it through a Boss distortion ACE the feedback is more than controllable- Johnny B Good and Chuck Berry sound really good too- I want this guitar.

It truly is one of those guitars I don’t want to put down. Don’t like the colour- and the wife wont let me get it!! It was £350 so not to expensive no hard case with this one but they are available. It is light and easy to play and makes you feel like a ROCKSTAR!!

I haven’t seen too many of these guitars on the shelves- they are readily available over the internet. Will have to have one day!! Or if you are reading this you can buy me one
here!!!
