Gibson Marauder
This truely is one of my ultimate guitars- Played by both Pete Townsend and one of my hero's Paul Stanley it truely is one of the guitars I would love to own!! Luckily for my the lead guitarist in one of my bands The Clan is the proud owner of a 1976 Gibson Marauder in Brown!
This guitar rocks! Indie looks not "run of the mill" and turns heads. It cuts thorough anything in our live performances. This model has the three week pick up selector as seen on Les pauls- later models feature a varitone style circuit which changes the pick up selections.
It has seen plenty action and has had some knocks but it is still totally solid.
The neck humbucker can be so smooth and also attack if the volume is thrown up- the neck blade style single coil really does chime and rip through the mix live- it can get too shrill if you are not careful but set correctly this guitar rocks. The Bridge single coil really is powerful and surprisingly so for a vinatge single coil!!
Vintage tones are easy clearly as this is a vintage guitar- The Kinks The Beatles all fly out of this guitar it Rocks.
When I got hold of it for a test all I wanted to play was the Paul Stanley riffs it was meant to do! This guitar was actually endorsed by Paul Stanley and Gibson released a poster with Mr Stanley featured!!!
Strutter, Rock and Roll All nite, Deuce and all the early classics are note perfect with this genuine vintage Marauder!! Class!!
It does not "dirt" up too well, but vintage bluesy rock break-up is what this guitar was built for!
It has a massive neck- The bass player in our band said it was like playing a "tree trunk" I like a thick neck! The frets are of course Jumbo and just about getting played in!!!
The vintage and unusual Vibe is topped of with a Flying V style headstock= You don't see many of these guitars- paul Stanley smashed one after every gig and Pete Townsend played em too so he will have smashed a few. Gibson only made Marauders for a few years as well so they are sure to become a true rarity!!!!! Get one whilst they are still low priced they can only go up!!!
The guitar so suits the trend of todays band to play something unusual- As soon a a decent indie band picks one up the value of these guitars is sure to soar!!!
